Getaway Ghent is located in Seminariestraat, beside the water and close to Saint Bavo’s Cathedral, right in the heart of Ghent city centre. Set in a historic building, it offers a calm and comfortable place to stay in Ghent, with a clear focus on privacy, autonomy and quality.

The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed, suitable for both short and longer stays. Getaway Ghent is not a traditional hotel, but a well considered base from which to experience the city freely, without a fixed programme or imposed experience.

Breakfast bars, coffee spots, restaurants, shops and cultural venues are all within walking distance. During the day, city life unfolds just outside, while the accommodation itself offers a quiet place to return to.

The fourth and largest Getaway concept to date, Getaway Gent – Residence Oscar is housed in the former Episcopal Seminary, a 1911 building designed in neo-traditional style. After a thorough renovation in 2019, the residence now offers modern, beautiful and fully equipped studios.

The studios are cleaned once a week. If you want this to happen more frequently, please take into account an extra 25 euros per extra cleaning.

How to reach Getaway

Train: Gent’s main train station, Gent-Sint-Pieters, can be reached from all major Belgian cities. International trains arrive at Brussels-South station from you can reach Gent with a direct connection. From Gent-Sint-Pieters station you can reach Getaway Gent via tram, bus or a healthy walk. Tram: From Gent-Sint-Pieters train station, you can take any tram going to the ‘Lippensplein’, located at 3min walking distance from Getaway Gent. Find trams and schedules here

Bus: From Gent-Sint-Pieters train station you can take a plethora of busses going to ‘Gent Zuid’, located at 7min walking distance from Getaway Gent. Find busses and schedules here

Walking: For the health and fitness enthusiasts among us, walking from Gent-Sint-Pieters train station to Getaway Gent takes about 30 minutes.

Taxi: Getaway Gent is partnered with Taxi 222 Gent, you can reach them 24/7 on +32 468 22 22 22.

Car:Gent can be reached by major highways E40 and E17 connecting Gent with the four cardinal directions.

Important: Gent’s center is regulated by a ‘Low Emission Zone’ (LEZ). To be allowed to enter the low-emission zone, your vehicle has to meet a number of requirements. Your vehicle's fuel type and Euro standard determine whether you can enter the low-emission zone. Getaway Gent is located just opposite from “Parking Reep”. This is a 24/7 public underground parking with 486 lots.

Where can we park our car?

Across from the hotel is the entrance to Parking Reep, a large public underground parking. You can find more information on parking facilities in Ghent here. A limited amount of private parking spaces can be rented directly through Getaway. Contact us for availability and pricing.

What about bed sheets and towels?

These are all present in the studio. The beds are made and the sheets for the sofa bed are in the closet.

Every guest receives a big and a small towel.

Which means of payment do you accept?

You can pay with Bancontact, Maestro, Visa or Mastercard at the reception. You can also pay online via the guest portal.

We do not accept cash payments.

I would like to check out, but the reception is closed?

Everything is already taken care of. To check-out, just drop your key in the Getaway mailbox on your way out.

Can the studios be viewed in advance?

They can, but only during office hours and by appointment. Please contact us upfront.

Is there Wifi available?

Every studio has a free WiFi connection. You will find the code on the key holder.

Is there an elevator?

Yes, Getaway Ghent is equipped with 3 elevators. However, some of the studios on the ground floor are only accessible via steps.

Do I have to clean the studio when I leave?

No, a weekly cleaning service is included in the standard fee. We only ask you to do the dishes.

Can I bring a pet?

Sorry, pets are not allowed for reasons of hygiene and allergies.

Can I extend my stay?

Of course you can, but only in function of availability of the studio. If you plan a longer stay, please contact us as soon as possible.

Do you accept group bookings?

Group bookings are possible. From 4 studios on, please contact us upfront.

Is it possible to check-in early?

Check-in is only possible from 3pm.
An early check-in from 1pm can be requested in advance at an extra fee of €25, for arrivals on Monday through Friday, not on the weekend. Do note that this request can be denied according to availability.

Is it possible to check-in late?

Checking in late is no problem. You can check in via the self-check-in kiosk.
In case of emergency, the night receptionist is always on site.

Is it possible to check-out late?

Check-out is normally before 11AM.
If you want a late check-out, this is possible for an additional fee of €25.
With the late check-out you can check out until 1PM.

Is breakfast included?

No, all of the studios are equipped with their own little kitchen so our guests can prepare breakfast themselves. Due to our central location, there are also many breakfast options in the near vicinity of the hotel.

Do the studios have a coffee machine?

There is a kettle and instant coffee present in every studio.

Can I add a crib to my reservation?

We offer cribs for the singular fee of 15 euro.
